Dark Chocolate/Read Time: 3.6 minutes
I ran a poll asking if people wanted to read email copy breakdowns or hacks, and I also asked in a group. People voted for hacks, so here it is! Welcome to Dark Chocolate, Email Marketing hacks delivered to your inbox every Sunday, sharp at 10:00 AM
Hey hey hey 👋🏻
Welcoming you all to the 49th edition of Dark Chocolate!
I still can’t believe that just a few days ago, I was in Kashmir. (Every kid dreams of going to Kashmir once in their lifetime, and I just visited it a week after turning 22.)
The weather and the people were amazing, but I’m not sure what the weather is like here. (Are you aware that I am in Noida, UP?) Sometimes it’s too sunny, and sometimes it rains. Goshhhh!
Well, it's not about Noida today; let me live in Kashmir. Oh, wait, I am writing my newsletter, not my diary. Thanks for the reminder, Toggl!
While going to Sonmarg, I noticed a board that said, “Thanks for not polluting this place.”
That made me think of you.
Yes, you—who kept my email in your inbox for decades and never opened it.
Oh, sorry, you’re reading it, right? That means you’re the kindest soul.
Well, here comes the hack for Email Marketing—it will help you bring back the attention of your subscribers.
If someone is not reading your emails, you can send them an email with the same subject line as I did in this email (Yeah, it was clickbait, boss):
“Thank You for Not Opening.”
The same idea can be seen in anti-smoking campaigns too:
“Thank You for Not Smoking.”
Now you get my point.
All you need to do is bring their attention back in a creative way.
If you bombard them with emails asking why they are not reading, they will never reply to you and may unsubscribe.
Now the question is: how to do it?
→ ‘Automation.’
I applied the same automation that I’m talking about and lost over 100 subscribers.
Here’s what I did:
I created a 3-email sequence.
The trigger was set for 30 days. If anyone didn’t check my emails for 30 days, they would receive 3 emails from my end, and if they didn’t open them, they would automatically get unsubscribed.
Here is a video I referred to while applying this.
Well, now you know what to do and how.
Now, what are you waiting for? Go and apply this!
Wait, wait, before you go tell me did you like today’s edition?
How about a surprise in the half-century edition?
Keep eating Dark Chocolate, I will see you next Sunday
Till then byeeeeeeeeee 👋🏻
