‘Stop chasing clients and start attracting them’
Did you hear this before?
If you say yes, then you know what you gonna read but if not then you will know with time…keep reading.
But, Heyyyyyy!
Welcome to the 55th version of Dark Chocolate.
It’s 10th Nov and I can’t wait for the winter anymore.
Well, I am stopping myself, because if I start talking about winters, the newsletter will never be finished.
So, let’s get back to the business, today we have the top social copywriter from London
And, if you guessed
‘Matt Barker’
then you hit the bull’s eye.
Creators Spotlight:
You know Matt Barker as the social copywriter with the slogan:
‘Stop chasing clients and start attracting them.’
After sending thousands of cold emails, Matt found the process exhausting.
That’s when he decided to move away from cold outreach and focus on building his inbound strategy.
Before becoming a full-time solopreneur, Matt spent 10 years managing multi-channel marketing campaigns for 8-figure B2C and B2B brands.
Since starting his business in 2022, he has ghostwritten and consulted for CEOs, founders, and consultants of 6- and 7-figure companies, helping them drive over $2,000,000 in revenue through organic content.
(Hello people who say, “Organic content never works”😛 )
So, let’s talk about what Matt offers in depth.
DFY Service
He onboard clients to write for them
DWY
He teaches his clients how to write
Digital Products
Where he sells courses, and templates.
A. 15 Minute Content (£19) (A tripwire offer)
Here is what he offers in the product
B. Easy Money Hooks
C. The Digital Copywriter (£399)
Here is what he offers
Recently he brought his new eBook called Social Copywriting Bible which is free but comes with a lot of value. (I can add the direct link to his doc file but I can’t ruin his business)
Alright, so far we’ve covered what Matt does and how he got here.
Now, let’s dive into how he leverages Email Marketing to drive success.
How he leveraged Email Marketing
Every creator out there, no matter what they’re selling or who they’re selling to, never skips leveraging Email Marketing.
(He uses Kit for his Email Marketing but he started using Substack recently )
(But I always suggest using Beehiiv. The best in the business.)
Matt made perfect use of Email Marketing.
When I started following him last year, he didn’t have a newsletter.
But being the strategist he is, he built his newsletter using multiple lead magnets.
And I have to mention his authority-building content most of what he shares on LinkedIn is authority-based, often backed by impressive numbers.
How he used lead magnets
But, before we talk about how he used we need to understand why people are so interested in his newsletter.
In his featured section he only kept only one link as he wanted to send the traffic here
First, let’s understand that ‘lead generation’ is an evergreen niche, everyone needs it.
You’ll never tire of reading or trying new strategies to generate leads.
Matt experienced the struggles of lead generation through cold outreach, so he knows firsthand what other solopreneurs and business owners face.
That's where he played his game, creating a lead magnet called the ‘3-Day Client Comes to You Challenge.’
He’s consistently using this powerful lead magnet, which attracts the most subscribers.
Now, his primary lead magnet is the ‘Social Copywriting Bible,’ which he’ll keep leveraging unless he creates something even better.
But he ACTUALLY started with templates.
Why? Because he understood the problem: writing from scratch is tough. As writers and marketers, we often struggle to come up with ideas and produce content online.
So, he created a 5-day free template series. At the end of it, he introduced an upsell: 30 days of LinkedIn content.
5 days template
But how does he make money using Email Marketing?
As per the ground rule, every Email should have one offer and Matt knows that quite well.
Also, he has segmented his subscribers in a good manner and sells specific stuff to specific groups.
This is an example, In this email he mentioned his coaching programme.
But in other emails, he mentions his ‘Digital Copywriting course’ and sometimes his ‘15 mins content’
I mentioned the details above. Go and give it a look. Do your sum and don’t forget to reply to me and guess how much he makes from these all.
Slow but stead, always. 🙌
Growth comes with delayed gratification.
