After studying him, I came to know that, I think like Dan Koe, but again thinking or planning never works, if anything really works then it is executing.

Dan Koe started his journey with a focus on avoiding conventional 9-5 jobs, initially, he started with a fitness YouTube channel then he tried web design, SEO, graphic design, digital art, content marketing, dropshipping, photography, and multiple ecom brands. But he failed. Let’s not call it a failure, because this is why he is “Dan Koe” today

His career took a significant turn when he discovered coding then freelancing and eventually to digital marketing and brand advising for creators and influencers.

Koe advocates for a life of curiosity, self-actualization, and building a business around one's authentic self. He mostly teaches to solve personal problems and then monetise those solutions for others.

He is a big critique of traditional education and conventional career paths. This is why I love this guy a lot.

Now, we will understand how he leverages Email Marketing.

How he leveraged Email Marketing

He's known for his effective content strategy which involves creating a single piece of high-quality newsletter and then repurposing it across multiple platforms.

Email is his main component.

Dan runs a newsletter called "The Koe Letter." He spends about 45 minutes daily writing this newsletter, which serves as a long-form content piece that he then repurposes across other platforms.

How does he build the email list?

As I have told you in the 49th edition, try to make as many lead magnets as you can. More specifically make one lead magnet against each pain point.

Dan Koe has built so many lead magnets and he has added the CTA on his website too. Most importantly he has an audience of 153,286 on LinkedIn, 486.6K on X and 1.6M on IG. So he posts about his new editions and gets tons of new subscribers easily.

Though his teaching is worth your time and it is too detailed you will give your email without a second thought.

Welcome Email

One of the best things the marketing world has is automation. I mean every time you submit your email to any website, you get a welcome email and Dan has an amazing one.

In my newsletter I have a wait time of 1 minute just so the subscriber gets some time after subscribing and if they want to check any editions before that.

Whenever you sign up for Koe’s letter, you will receive a welcome email. As I always say, give a lot and ask later. Dan does the same job.

He offers a free planner to help you gain more clarity in life. And most importantly? This is a template in Kortex, Dan Koe’s own note-taking app.

So he introduced the “Kortex” app. But above the link he has mentioned it as a heads-up.

Value-first content

Most of the people who use Email Marketing, believes in sell…sell and sell. That isn’t how Email Marketing works.

Email Marketing works only when you approach the “value-first” approach.

In each of his emails, Dan Koe always adds value before even asking anything. It can be anything. This helps him in “positioning” and gaining his subscribers' trust.

If he write 10 emails 8 of them would be without any sales. That is why he is highly perceived.

Is it enough? No. He never stops here. In each of his emails, he solves a particular problem. And let me tell you a secret, whenever he is doing this, he is actually making it an “education-based CTA”. First, he will teach then he will sell.

Personalization and segmentation

In each of my mails, I highlight the importance of “personalization” and “segmentation”, you can’t give a thirsty man food to eat, he/she needs water. Please focus on it.

Dan understands it quite well. He has multiple segmentations and I am not sure of his segmentations but I feel he must have these two “behavioural” and “psychographic”
