Copy writing vs Content writing?

It's the end

Hey Dark Chocolate Fans!

Hope you're doing the best with your creativity! I'm Jyoti Massey, your Email writer, and I'm stoked to be part of the 10th edition of the Dark Chocolate newsletter – The only space you need to grow as a writer.

Today, let's talk about content writing and copy writing, and see what makes them different in the world of marketing.

Content Writing

In the awesome world of content creation, content writing is like the backbone. It's about creating stories that grab your attention and give you useful info or a good time. Think news articles, case studies, or social media posts. The main goal is to share knowledge or make your reading experience fun.

Copy writing

Now, switch gears. Copy writing is like the persuasive buddy in the content world. It's about creating content that makes you want to do something – like buy, subscribe, or engage. Landing pages, product pages, social media ads, and sales emails are all copy writing in action. It's all about convincing and guiding you toward a specific action.

Main Goal

Content writing's main gig is to teach or entertain, adding value to what you know or making your day more fun. Copy writing is like the smooth talker, trying to get you to do something, whether it's buying, subscribing, or just clicking on something interesting.

Tone

Content writing talks in a formal way, making sure everything is clear and professional. Copy writing is the friendly way of communication, connecting with you on a personal level to get you to do something right away.

Length

Content writing has some room to play, from short 500-word pieces to longer 3000-word articles. Copy writing keeps it short and sweet because who has time for a novel when there's a cool message waiting?

Direction

Content writing is like a guide, leading you through different sources with links for a deep dive. Copy writing is the party planner, inviting you to the party and pointing to the dance floor with one irresistible call to action.

Good For

Content writing is the champ at bringing in visitors naturally. By giving useful and interesting content, it attracts people who are into the topic. Copy writing, with its persuasive charm, is great at turning those visitors into top-notch leads, guiding them to take actions that help the business.

Hey dark chocolate fam

First of all I wish you a merry Christmas (Sorry for wishing you on 31st, but you know it’s a weekly mail)

I love to welcome you back again in the 10th edition of my newsletter where I got Jyoti as my co-author.

Today we are spilling the beans of the ultimate debate between Copy Writing and content writing

If you want a tl:dr version then here it is

  • Content writing is more tuned to long form content where copy does it work within few lines or words

  • Copy writing can be direct or indirect response

  • Content needed more in website blogs, copy needs in website page content, social media.

I know Jyoti already did her task, so as always I am being lazy and finishing my work within less words.

Oh, yeah recently I collaborated with two beautiful human here they are 1 & 2.

Oops, sorry to distract you but yeah there should not be any debate if you love to long form writing then go for content writing and if you love persuasive content then come and join me.
